A Teardrop-shaped hemming compound die is a special sheet metal bending mold used for sheet metal edge hemming and closed edge forming.
Unlike a standard flat hemming die, a teardrop hemming die does not simply press the material completely flat. Instead, it keeps a proper gap and inside radius at the top of the hemmed bend, allowing the material to flow more naturally during forming.
